Zeruiah

Listen from:
Described with Abigail as “sisters of the sons of Jesse.” They may have been half-sisters (Abigail was the daughter of Nahash, 2 Samuel 17:2525And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother. (2 Samuel 17:25)). Zeruiah had three sons, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel, the leaders of David’s army; but it is not stated who was her husband. David declared, after the murder of Abner, that the sons of Zeruiah were too hard for him (1 Sam. 26:66Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee. (1 Samuel 26:6); 2 Sam. 2:13,1813And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool. (2 Samuel 2:13)
18And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe. (2 Samuel 2:18)
; 2 Sam. 16:9-109Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head. 10And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so? (2 Samuel 16:9‑10); etc).
