267. A Fullness Resides in Jesus Our Head
10s or 11s.
by J. Fawcett
A fullness resides in Jesus our Head;
A fullness abides to answer all need:
The Father’s good pleasure has laid up a store,
A plentiful treasure, to give to the poor.
“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:9-10)
“Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.” (Colossians 3:11)
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)
Whatever distress awaits us below,
Such plentiful grace the Lord will bestow,
As still shall support us and silence our fear,
And nothing can hurt us while Jesus is near.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
“For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.” (Mark 6:50)
When sorrows assail us, or terrors draw nigh,
His love will not fail us, He’ll guard with His eye;
And when we are fainting and ready to fail,
He’ll give what is wanting, and make us prevail.
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.” (John 15:9)
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” (1 Peter 3:12)
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” (Psalm 32:8)
We trust His protection; we’ll lean on His might;
We’re sure His direction will guide us aright:
We know who surrounds us, almighty to save;
And no one confounds us the Savior who have.
