A Gold Chain

A dear old Christian and his wife, both over eighty, write to me, saying: —
“For some time past I and my dear wife have had a very great desire to give you more practical help in your great and grand labor of love among the dear soldiers and sailors. Praise to our God! It is a grand work, but not a light one. The day will declare it. I have this chain, which was sent to me as a present not long since and laid by. We shall be so grateful to you if you could spare the time to turn it into cash for the grand and noble work. I should be thankful if our Father would incline someone to give you the full value, so that you can send several parcels in our blessed Lord’s name to the dear men.”
