Abishalom; Absalom

Boyd’s Bible Dictionary:

(father of peace). A son of David (2 Sam. 3:3). Killed his brother Amnon (2 Sam. 13). Fled to Geshur (2 Sam. 13:37-38). Returned and conspired to usurp his father’s throne (2 Sam. 14-17). Defeated at Gilead and slain by Joab (2 Sam 18).

Concise Bible Dictionary:

Father of Maachah, wife of Rehoboam and mother of Abijam, king of Judah (1 Kings 15:1-2,10). But in 2 Chronicles 11:20 we read that Maachah was the daughter of Absalom; therefore Abishalom appears to be a fuller way of writing Absalom, and refers to the son of David. See ABSALOM.
