1. Descendant of the royal family of Judah (1 Chron. 3:20²⁰And Hashubah, and Ohel, and Berechiah, and Hasadiah, Jushab-hesed, five. (1 Chronicles 3:20)).

2. Father of Asaph, a “singer” (1 Chron. 6:39³⁹And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, even Asaph the son of Berachiah, the son of Shimea, (1 Chronicles 6:39) (BERACHIAH); 1 Chron. 15:17¹⁷So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; (1 Chronicles 15:17)).
