It is said symbolically that as a cage or trap is full of birds, so the houses of the Jews were full of deceit (Jer. 5:2727As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. (Jeremiah 5:27)). “A cage of every unclean and hateful bird,” is a character a mystical Babylon (Rev. 18:22And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. (Revelation 18:2)). The word here is θυλακή, often translated “prison.”
