The covering a roof of a room with wood, formed into patterns: some with fir-trees (2 Chron. 3:5⁵And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains. (2 Chronicles 3:5)), and others with cedar and painted (1 Kings 6:15¹⁵And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir. (1 Kings 6:15); Jer. 22:14¹⁴That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion. (Jeremiah 22:14); Ezek. 41:16¹⁶The door posts, and the narrow windows, and the galleries round about on their three stories, over against the door, cieled with wood round about, and from the ground up to the windows, and the windows were covered; (Ezekiel 41:16); Hag. 1:4⁴Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? (Haggai 1:4)).
