God wants His children to be different from those who do not know Him, “that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,” and “our Lord Jesus Christ … gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.” God has told His children to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” “Be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord,” “as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance,” and “be not ye therefore like unto them,” “but as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.” For “our Saviour Jesus Christ … gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” |
