Cuth, Cuthah

2 Kings 17:24,30
Listen from:
One of the places from where the king of Assyria brought colonists into Palestine. They inhabited the cities of Samaria and became with others the ancestors of the Samaritans (2 Kings 17:24, 3024And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof. (2 Kings 17:24)
30And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, (2 Kings 17:30)
). The locality of Cuthah is not definitely known. Josephus places it in the interior of Persia; others in Babylonia.
