Thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. … Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.1
I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. … It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. … Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.2 – The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.3 – He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. … He knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.4

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect.1 – Leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.2 – The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.3
I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.4 – I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.5
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion.6 – They rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.7 – Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me.8 – Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.9 – Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.10

It is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.1 – He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.2
Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, … but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: … manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God, … that your faith and hope might be in God.3
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.4

The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.1 – Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.2 – They that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.3 – Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.4
God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.5
Be ye … followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. … Now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.6

Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.1 – The world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.2 – As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. … Death is swallowed up in victory.3 – Whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.4 – To live is Christ, and to die is gain.5
Cast not away … your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.6 – The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.7 – The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.8

The church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.1
Christ … loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.2
There appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun.3 – The marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.4 – The righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.5
The glory which thou gavest me I have given them.6

Underneath are the everlasting arms.1 – When [Peter] saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?2 – The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.3
The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.4 – Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.5 – He that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.6
They shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all.7

It pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.1 – The brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.2 – Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation.3
The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.4

Ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins.1 – That we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.2 – He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him.3
He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. … The Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.4 – Thus it behoved Christ to suffer, … that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations.5 – He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.6
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, … to give repentance.7 – Through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: and by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.8 – Your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.9

He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.1 – The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.2 – Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.3
The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.4
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.5 – Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God.6
The Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.7 – And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.8 – If we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.9
