21I beheld, and that horn made war with the saints, and prevailed over them;
22until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most high places; and the appointed time arrived, and the saints possessed the kingdom.
23He said thus: The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon the earth, which shall be different from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24And as to the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall arise ten kings; and another shall arise after them; and he shall be different from the former, and he shall subdue three kings.

 The fourth kingdom is described more at large...it is that of Rome—the four kingdoms being Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome; and these, as will be seen, are to occupy the whole period of the times of the Gentiles. (Daniel 2 by E. Dennett)
 Historically, the Roman empire succeeded that of Greece, and, “strong as iron,” it broke in pieces and subdued all things. Its might for the time seemed to be irresistible. (Daniel 2 by E. Dennett)
 That the outward form of this kingdom has disappeared is only too apparent; to human eyes it is, in fact, non-existent. In God’s eyes it is but hidden for the moment, and waiting to spring forth and to astonish the world by its reappearance {Rev. 17:7-11}. (Daniel 2 by E. Dennett)

J. N. Darby Translation
