1. Leader of one of the courses of priests (1 Chron. 24:18¹⁸The three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah. (1 Chronicles 24:18)).

2. Founder of a family whose genealogy was lost (Ezra 2:60⁶⁰The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two. (Ezra 2:60); Neh. 7:62⁶²The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two. (Nehemiah 7:62)).

3. Father of Shemaiah who sought to dishearten Nehemiah (Neh. 6:10¹⁰Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
