El Espíritu Santo

“El amor de Dios está derramado en nuestros corazones por el Espíritu Santo que nos es dado” (Romanos 5:55And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:5)).
Cuidadosa atención a la enseñanza de la Biblia nos mostrará que toda obra de Dios ha sido, y siempre será, en Trinidad. Hay tres personas en la Divinidad. Esto es el orden bíblico: Dios el Padre en propósito; Cristo el Hijo, que lleva a cabo los propósitos del Padre; y el Espíritu Santo es el poder por quien se cumplen estos propósitos.
El Espíritu Santo no habla de Sí mismo, sino glorifica a Cristo (Juan 16:13-1413Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. (John 16:13‑14)). Por esta razón, un hombre que está lleno del Espíritu Santo, no se ocupará ni de sí mismo, ni del Espíritu, sino de Cristo. La doctrina falsa da honor a los hombres en vez de dar honor a Cristo.
En los tiempos del Antiguo Testamento el Espíritu Santo descendió sobre los profetas y fueron inspirados por Él en lo que profetizaron y escribieron (2 Pedro 1:2121For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:21)), pero todavía no había venido a la tierra como una Persona Divina (Juan 7:3939(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) (John 7:39)).
El día de Pentecostés el Espíritu Santo descendió del cielo (1 Pedro 1:1212Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. (1 Peter 1:12)). Ahora no oramos que venga porque ha venido. La iglesia de Dios fue formada por el bautismo del Espíritu (Hechos 1:55For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. (Acts 1:5); 1 Corintios 12:12-1312For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:12‑13)) y por lo cual no se repite. En las Escrituras el bautismo del Espíritu no es una cosa individual, sino colectiva. Como individuos somos sellados por el Espíritu (Efesios 1:1313In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Ephesians 1:13)) y añadidos a la Iglesia (Hechos 2:4747Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (Acts 2:47)). El Espíritu Santo hinchió la casa (su presencia entre ellos colectivamente; Hechos 2:22And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (Acts 2:2); Efesios 2:2222In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:22)) y también mora en los cuerpos de todos los creyentes (1 Corintios 6:1919What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19)). Nunca dejará a un creyente verdadero aunque sea contristado por pecado en su vida (Juan 14:1616And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (John 14:16); Efesios 4:3030And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)). Pertenecemos a Cristo, apartados (sellados) por el Espíritu, y nunca podemos perdernos, porque “es las arras de nuestra herencia, para la redención de la posesión adquirida para alabanza de Su gloria” (Efesios 1:1414Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:14)).
Los gentiles no recibieron al Espíritu Santo por la imposición de manos (Hechos 10:4444While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. (Acts 10:44)), y no oraron que viniera. Solamente creyeron el evangelio. La Biblia nos dice que una persona es sellada con el Espíritu cuando crea el evangelio de su salud (Efesios 1:1313In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Ephesians 1:13)). Algunas veces en la iglesia primitiva Dios mostró la unidad de los creyentes por la imposición de manos (Hechos 8:1717Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. (Acts 8:17)). Anteriormente los judíos no se trataban con los samaritanos (Juan 4:99Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. (John 4:9)), y si hubieran recibido al Espíritu Santo independientemente de los creyentes judíos, hubieran llegado a ser “La iglesia de los Samaritanos”.
Esta verdad bendita se expresa cuando creyentes se reúnan, no como miembros de un sistema hecho por los hombres, sino como miembros del un cuerpo de Cristo. En la mesa del Señor el un pan es un símbolo de esto (1 Corintios 10:1717For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. (1 Corinthians 10:17)). Ahora el Espíritu de Dios está reuniendo creyentes al Nombre del Señor Jesucristo únicamente, como miembros de Su cuerpo, para recordarle en Su muerte y para alabarle en la libertad del Espíritu (2 Corintios 3:1717Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3:17)). El Espíritu de Dios guía también en la oración (Judas 2020But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (Jude 20)) y en el ministerio (1 Corintios 12:1111But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. (1 Corinthians 12:11)), pero nunca guiará contrario a la Palabra de Dios, porque la Biblia es inspirada por el Espíritu Santo. Es muy importante que probemos todo lo que oímos y leemos por la Palabra de Dios (1 Tesalonicenses 5:19-2119Quench not the Spirit. 20Despise not prophesyings. 21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:19‑21)).
El don de lenguas fue dado en el día de Pentecostés a fin de que los de otras naciones, reunidos en Jerusalén, pudieran oír en su propia lengua “las maravillas de Dios” (Hechos 2:1111Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. (Acts 2:11)). En el Antiguo Testamento los tratos de Dios habían sido con Israel como una nación —“La salud viene de los Judíos” (Juan 4:2222Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. (John 4:22))— pero ahora iban a aprender por el don de lenguas que todos los creyentes fueron hechos uno en el cuerpo de Cristo. Dios no prometió que el don de lenguas continuaría hasta que viniera el Señor, pero dijo que los dones de ministerio continuarían (Efesios 4:7-167But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Ephesians 4:7‑16)). Usualmente hoy en día los que profesan tener el don de lenguas son miembros de un sistema hecho por los hombres que en su testimonio divide el cuerpo de Cristo. ¿Daría Dios un don que tenía la intención de mostrar que los creyentes de todas las naciones son uno en Cristo, a grupos nacionales e independientes? A causa de que la iglesia de Dios ha faltado tan gravosamente al testimonio exterior de esta unidad, hoy en día no se ve el don de lenguas, y otros dones de señal. Los que profesan tenerlos se pueden probar en la luz de la Palabra de Dios. Dios no dio un don de hablar lenguas ininteligibles, sino lenguas bien conocidas y habladas en el mundo (Hechos 2:88And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? (Acts 2:8)). Cuando sanaban, nadie partía desilusionado. TODOS eran curados (Hechos 5:1616There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one. (Acts 5:16)). Es bueno probar los que profesan hoy en día tener los dones de lenguas y de sanidad por estos versículos (1 Corintios 4:19-2019But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 20For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. (1 Corinthians 4:19‑20)).
Algunos dicen que el don de lenguas es la prueba que el Espíritu Santo mora en una persona, pero aun en la iglesia primitiva no todos hablaban con lenguas (1 Corintios 12:3030Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? (1 Corinthians 12:30)). Además se podía hablar con lenguas y profetizar, sin amor, y nada ser (1 Corintios 13:1-21Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1‑2)). La prueba verdadera que el Espíritu Santo mora en nosotros es que “el amor de Dios está derramado en nuestros corazones” (Romanos 5:55And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:5)); que sabemos que somos hijos de Dios y que podemos llamar a Dios nuestro Padre (Gálatas 4:66And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Galatians 4:6)). Cuando andamos cerca al Señor en obediencia a Su Palabra, el Espíritu de Dios no es impedido y nos llena el corazón con gozo y paz. Que conozcamos más de esta comunión bendita por el Espíritu hasta que el Señor Jesús venga y nos llame a Su hogar celestial.
“¿Cuál fue el gran motivo que Tú, Dios de amor,
Enviases Tu Espíritu, al Consolador,
Llenando de paz y de amor divinal
A los corazones ya de cada cual?
¡Fue Tu amor!, (bis) ¡infinito amor!,
Que aun Te motivó, Padre, Dios de amor;
Amor que a Tu Espíritu en gracia nos dio,
Al Consolador que Tu amor proveyó.
