But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon. (Acts 27:14)
). The etymology of the word is not known: some MSS read εὐρακύλων,
euraquilo
. It may simply imply a furious wind, like a Levanter in modern times, irrespective of the quarter from where it blew.
