 This expression of unity was not produced by common agreement but through simple subjection to the Word of God. “They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written”(Ezra 3:4). (Gathered As One Man to Jerusalem - Ezra 3:4 by N. Simon)
 The feast of tabernacles was a figure of millennial joy (Lev. 23:40). Israel was to rejoice before the Lord their God seven days. To human eyes looking at their desolate condition it might have seemed a mockery for these poor returned captives to be keeping a joyful feast. But faith is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen," and thus brings the future into present realization.
