From Across the Seas

A dear friend across the ocean writes: “Dear Doctor, — I have a copy of the ‘Message from God’ on the table before me, and as I write the tears are running down my cheeks. I am a poor widow with no money at all to help in the work, but I just want to express my thankfulness to the dear Lord for raising you up to do this work, and my prayer is that you may be increasingly encouraged, and used of God. What a sin to tell the poor soldiers that dying for their Country will secure a place in heaven! Oh! go on contradicting it by the Word of God. I rejoice when I read what a harvest of souls the Lord Jesus will reap even out of this cruel War. Yes, even the wrath of man shall praise Him, and the remainder of wrath He will restrain, Go on, go on; my feeble prayers are with you, and my sympathy and interest.”
Another writes: “It makes my heart ache, and my tears flow, when I read ‘The Message from God.’ I am sending you thirty shillings for the poor boys. Oh! that more would believe the Word!”
