Even so ye . . . seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
The Corinthian saints were very gifted in many areas. But the Apostle reminds them that edifying the members of the body of Christ is most important. We should never want a spiritual gift (whether it be public speaking, faith, knowledge, whatever) unless it is going to be used to encourage and build up the Church or to reach the unsaved. If it is used to bring glory to myself, I will lose a great reward.
