Name, signifying, as in the margin, “field of strong men,” given to the place where twelve men of Israel and twelve of Judah killed each other, which led to a very sore battle (2 Sam. 2:1616And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
