1. A family of priests who bore this name. One had charge of the sixteenth course of priestly service, and some returned from exile, two of whom had married strange wives; but there is no genealogy of their descent from Aaron (1 Chron. 9:12¹²And Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasiai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; (1 Chronicles 9:12); 1 Chron. 24:14¹⁴The fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer, (1 Chronicles 24:14); Ezra 2:37³⁷The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two. (Ezra 2:37); Ezra 10:20²⁰And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah. (Ezra 10:20); Neh. 7:40⁴⁰The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two. (Nehemiah 7:40); Neh. 11:13¹³And his brethren, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty and two: and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer, (Nehemiah 11:13); Jer. 20:1¹Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the Lord, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things. 2. Father of Zadok who repaired the wall of Jerusalem (Neh. 3:29²⁹After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate. (Nehemiah 3:29)).

Place from which some returned from exile (Ezra 2:59⁵⁹And these were they which went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer: but they could not show their father's house, and their seed, whether they were of Israel: (Ezra 2:59); Neh. 7:61⁶¹And these were they which went up also from Tel-melah, Tel-haresha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel. (Nehemiah 7:61)).
