A man is known by the company he keeps, says the proverb, and real greatness affects those who approach it. If we would be like Christ, we need be much in His company. When the wisdom and boldness of the apostles staggered their enemies, there was but one way of explaining the difficulty— “They took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:1313Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13).
“We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Cor. 3:1818But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18)).
