 Yet the desolations of verse 8 will precede this {the intervention of the Lord}, and when a wilderness has been created, Jehovah will rise up and be exalted in judging the foe. There may have been some fulfillment of all this soon after Isaiah’s day, but the complete fulfillment waits for the end of the age, when there will arise a man of whom it can be said, “he hath broken the covenant... he regardeth no man” (verse 8).
