(lying). Falsehood (Psa. 4:2; 5:6²O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. (Psalm 4:2)

The Hebrew word is commonly translated “lies” (Psa. 4:2²O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. (Psalm 4:2); Psa. 5:6⁶Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. (Psalm 5:6)). The word “leasing” is from the Anglo-Saxon leas, “false.” Wiclif, in John 8:44,⁴⁴Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44) translated “Whanne he spekith lesynge.”
