1. Son of Ethni, a Gershonite (1 Chron. 6:40⁴⁰The son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchiah, (1 Chronicles 6:40)).

A priest, father of Pashur (1 Chron. 9:12¹²And Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasiai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; (1 Chronicles 9:12); Neh. 11:12¹²And their brethren that did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty and two: and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchiah, (Nehemiah 11:12); Jer. 38:1¹Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying, (Jeremiah 38:1)). Priest who sealed the covenant; and probably the same that assisted in the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem (Neh. 10:3³Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah, (Nehemiah 10:3); Neh. 12:42⁴²And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. Son of Hammelech, into whose dungeon Jeremiah was cast (Jer. 38:6⁶Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords.
