Probably the twelve signs or constellations of the Zodiac (Job 38:32³²Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? (Job 38:32)): see margin. The Hebrew word mazzaloth occurs in 2 Kings 23:5,⁵And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven. (2 Kings 23:5) translated “planets,” but twelve signs, or “constellations” in the margin.
