The law concerning the neighbor may be studied in Lev. 25 In the New Testament, however, an entirely new meaning is given to this word by our Lord’s parable of the good Samaritan, according to which my neighbor is any one to whom I can show mercy or kindness. Surely in this light we all have many neighbors.

Luke 10:29²⁹But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor? (Luke 10:29). He, willing to Justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

The Jews gave a very narrow definition of the word “neighbor.” The robbing interpreted it to mean only those who were of the Jewish people. The Gentiles were not considered neighbors.
