69*. Oh! the Peace Forever Flowing
8,7.
by A.P. Cecil
Oh! the peace forever flowing
From God’s thoughts of His own Son,
Oh, the peace of simply knowing
On the cross that all was done.
“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” (John 19:30)
Peace with God, the blood in heaven
Speaks of pardon now to me:
Peace with God! the Lord is risen!
Righteousness now counts me free.
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
“Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.” (Luke 24:34)
Peace with God — is Christ in glory,
God is just and God is love;
Jesus died to tell the story,
Foes to bring to God above.
“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” (Ephesians 2:14)
“To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” (Romans 3:26)
“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18)
Now free access to the Father,
Through the Christ of God we have;
By the Spirit here abiding,
Promise of the Father’s love.
“For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” (Ephesians 2:18)
Jesus, Savior, we adore Thee!
Christ of God — anointed Son;
We confess Thee, Lord of glory,
Fruits of victory Thou hast won!
“And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:69)
“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” (Hebrews 1:9)
“Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Corinthians 2:8)
