Patmos

I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 1:9)
). It is a rocky island in the Ægean Sea, about 37° 15' N, and is peculiarly rugged, bare, and desolate. On the hill to the south is a monastery called “John the Divine.” In the ascent is a cave or grotto in which John is said to have written the Revelation.
