The receptacle for arrows (Gen. 27:3³Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; (Genesis 27:3); Lam. 3:13¹³He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins. (Lamentations 3:13)). It is used symbolically as a place of safety, strength, &c. (Job 39:23²³The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield. (Job 39:23); Psa. 127:5⁵Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. (Psalm 127:5); Isa. 49:2²And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; (Isaiah 49:2); Jer. 5:16¹⁶Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.
