The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Psalm 51:17)
If we are to be able to worship the Lord properly, we must be humble. A proud, haughty spirit will produce praise that only gets as high as the ceiling. God will not accept worship from proud people. David learned this and wrote about it. The Lord illustrated the importance of humility in our prayers and our attitude. Let’s remember where we came from and what Jesus had to suffer to redeem us. Pride won’t last long when we remember that.
