(keeper). (1) An Asherite (1 Chron. 7:32³²And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister. (1 Chronicles 7:32)). Shamer (1 Chron. 7:34³⁴And the sons of Shamer; Ahi, and Rohgah, Jehubbah, and Aram. (1 Chronicles 7:34)). (2) Mother of Jehozabad, a co-murderer of King Joash (2 Kings 12:21²¹For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead. (2 Kings 12:21)). Called Shimrith (2 Chron. 24:26²⁶And these are they that conspired against him; Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess.
