Shunem

(double sleeping place). A city of Issachar, near Jezreel. Place where the Philistines encamped before the great battle of Gilboa; home of David’s nurse and wife, Abishag; residence of the woman who entertained Elisha. Now Solam (Josh. 19:18¹⁸And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem, (Joshua 19:18); 1 Sam. 28:4⁴And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa. (1 Samuel 28:4); 2 Kings 4:8⁸And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. (2 Kings 4:8)).
