However destitute of internal joy the soul [of a believer) may be, it has an eternal inexhaustible source of joy outside itself, in Christ and the joy which God the Father has in Him.
God's word was given to Adam in Eden, to guide him how to guard and keep the life -which he had (Gen. 2:1717But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis 2:17)); to us God's word is given to originate in us a new eternal life; born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever And this is the word which by the Gospel is preached unto you (1 Peter 1:23,2523Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
