“Uz” From Boyd’s Bible Dictionary:

(fertile). (1) The land of Uz was Job’s country (Job 1:1¹There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. (Job 1:1)). It was located east or southeast of Palestine (Job 1:3³His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. (Job 1:3)); adjacent to the Sabeans or Chaldeans (Job 1:15¹⁵And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. (Job 1:15)), and to the Edomites, who once occupied it as conquerors (Lam. 4:21²¹Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked. (Lamentations 4:21)). It is grouped with Egypt, Philistia, and Moab (Jer. 25:19-21¹⁹Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; ²⁰And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, ²¹Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon, (Jeremiah 25:19‑21)). (2) The first son of Aram, son of Shem (Gen. 10:23²³And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. (3) Son of Nahor by Milcah (Gen. 22:21²¹Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram, (Genesis 22:21)). Huz in A. V. and probably correct name for Uz. (4) Son of Dishan and grandson of Seir (Gen. 36:28²⁸The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran. (Genesis 36:28)).

“Uz” From Concise Bible Dictionary:

1. Son of Aram, a son of Shem (Gen. 10:23²³And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. (Genesis 10:23); 1 Chron. 1:17¹⁷The sons of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram, and Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Meshech. (1 Chronicles 1:17)).

2. Son of Dishan, a son of Seir (Gen. 36:28²⁸The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran. (Genesis 36:28); 1 Chron. 1:42⁴²The sons of Ezer; Bilhan, and Zavan, and Jakan. The sons of Dishan; Uz, and Aran. (1 Chronicles 1:42)).

The native land of Job, perhaps the district peopled by the descendants of one of the above, or of Huz the son of Nahor (Job 1:1¹There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. (Job 1:1); Jer. 25:20²⁰And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, (Jeremiah 25:20); Lam. 4:21²¹Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked. (Lamentations 4:21)). It is supposed to have been in the south-east of Palestine towards Arabia Deserta, which would lie open to attacks from the Sabeans and the Chaldeans.

“Huz” From Concise Bible Dictionary:

Eldest son of Nahor and Milcah (Gen. 22:21²¹Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram, (Genesis 22:21)). The name is really Uz, as it is given elsewhere.
