Cuando vemos las noticias a diario en el mundo, es claro que las cosas van de mal en peor. Hay guerras en Europa y en el Medio Oriente. A raíz del calentamiento global hay temperaturas y precipitaciones extremas que causan sequías en algunos lugares e inundaciones en otros. La violencia e inseguridad son muy problemáticas en muchos países. Muchos sufren de hambre a raíz de situaciones económicas y corrupción. Y para alguien que no tiene al Señor Jesucristo como su Señor y Salvador puede ser desesperante.
Quienes conocemos al Señor Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador tenemos una esperanza segura para la eternidad y no estamos solos mientras estamos aquí en la tierra. Tenemos seguridad acerca de lo que el Señor dijo de este mundo: “Estas cosas os he hablado para que en mí tengáis paz. En el mundo tendréis aflicción; pero confiad, yo he vencido al mundo” (Juan 16:3333These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)). Tenemos la promesa de la Venida del Señor para llevarnos a estar con Él en el cielo: “Y si me fuere y os preparare lugar, vendré otra vez, y os tomaré a mí mismo, para que donde yo estoy, vosotros también estéis. Y sabéis a dónde voy, y sabéis el camino” (Juan 14:3-43And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. (John 14:3‑4)). Nunca Él nos deja solos, a pesar de las circunstancias: “Sean vuestras costumbres sin avaricia, contentos con lo que tenéis ahora; porque él dijo: No te desampararé, ni te dejaré; de manera que podemos decir confiadamente: El Señor es mi ayudador; no temeré Lo que me pueda hacer el hombre” (Hebreos 13:4-64Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. 5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (Hebrews 13:4‑6)).
Con estas promesas seguras, podemos vivir confiadamente descansando en Dios a pesar de las circunstancias que nos rodean. Cada día hay hermanos y hermanas en Cristo que pasan a la eternidad como mártires. Otros sufren persecuciones por el nombre de Cristo: “ ... padecemos juntamente con él, para que juntamente con él seamos glorificados. Pues tengo por cierto que las aflicciones del tiempo presente no son comparables con la gloria venidera que en nosotros ha de manifestarse” (Romanos 8:17-1817And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Romans 8:17‑18)). Todo aquí es tan momentáneo en comparación con la eternidad. Debemos ocuparnos en: “ ... servir al Dios vivo y verdadero, y esperar de los cielos a su Hijo, al cual resucitó de los muertos, a Jesús, quien nos libra de la ira venidera” (1 Tesalonicenses 1:9-109For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. (1 Thessalonians 1:9‑10)).
Más de tres mil millones de personas en el planeta nunca han tenido la oportunidad de escuchar el evangelio, las buenas nuevas de salvación. Más de mil millones de personas nunca han escuchado el nombre de Jesucristo. Así que podemos y debemos compartir este mensaje: “porque todo aquel que invocare el nombre del Señor, será salvo. ¿Cómo, pues, invocarán a aquel en el cual no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo oirán sin haber quien les predique? ¿Y cómo predicarán si no fueren enviados? Como está escrito: ¡Cuán hermosos son los pies de los que anuncian la paz, de los que anuncian buenas nuevas!” (Romanos 10:13-1513For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10:13‑15)). Somos irresponsables si no anunciamos las buenas nuevas de salvación desde nuestros corazones y lo exteriorizamos con nuestras bocas. Tal vez hoy sea la última oportunidad antes de que seamos arrebatados.
