When [Jesus] had heard therefore that [Lazarus] was sick, He abode two days still in the same place where He was.
Mary and Martha had sent a message to the Lord that His friend (their brother Lazarus) was sick. The obvious implication was that they wanted the Lord to come and heal him. Instead, the Lord waits for two days and then took about two more days to travel from the north country to Bethany to see the sisters. The Lord’s timing is not always our timing. He sometimes makes us wait before He answers our prayer. But one thing is certain. He is in control and is doing everything for our eventual good and His glory.
