Changes

Life tends to be full of changes, and I don’t suppose this year is turning out to be any different in that respect. Some folks may be optimistic, even excited about events ahead, while others may be anxious and uncertain. But none of us can see very far ahead. We think we know the way and know where we’re going in our lives, and we hope we’ll get there. But we don’t really know. We may ask ourselves, will today’s decisions translate into what we want tomorrow to be?

When we are young we are thankful for those who can advise and guide us. I am thankful that I have Someone that I can turn to at any time. He knows the way I take, and He knows every outcome. Because He knows the way so perfectly I can trust Him at all times in all circumstances. Jeremiah stated, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). Solomon questioned, “For who knoweth what is good for man in this life?” (Ecclesiastes 6:12). I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know who holds the future. I don’t know what changes are ahead, but I know the One who never changes.
