Dear Young Christian:

As you start out this week in whatever endeavours you may have, remember this exhortation: “Use this world, as not abusing it” (1 Corinthians 7:31). The fact that you are reading this calendar page is an indication that the Lord has not yet come and that we are still here in this world. We have to get along and utilize that which is at our disposalthose things that God has given us in a temporal sense. It may be a job, our schooling, a car, a bicycle, some fundsand a whole host of other things. These things, if used in a proper way are helps to get us through life in this world, so that we can be a testimony and point others to the Saviour.

The problem is, we often place more value on the things of this world than we should, and we can sometimes use them in a way that is not pleasing or honoring to the Lord. The rest of our verse says, “for the fashion of this world passeth away.” We are also told, “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (1 John 2:17).

Your Christian Friend,
