Dear Young Christian:

The English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare, in his tragedy, Macbeth, has Macbeth himself say, “Life’s but a walking shadowIt is a tale.” Moses, in his prayer said, “We spend our years as a tale that is told” (Psalm 90:9).

What tale will your life tell this week? If it were all written up and repeated at the end of the week, would it be worthwhile telling, and would it honor the Lord? Would you be ashamed to even have it told? It is good to live our lives with the realization that everything we do and say is going to be rehearsed when we stand before the Lord in a coming day. “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12). “Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof” (Matthew 12:36). “For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (Romans 14:10).

Our life is a story, and once written with God’s divine pen it cannot be changed. Every day there is a “book of remembrance.written beforethe Lord” (Malachi 3:16).

Your Christian Friend,

Jim Hyland
