Listen and Speak
God speaks … just listen!
God listens … just speak!
So stated the bumper sticker on a car as I drove through the state of New York. How often do we just stop and listen to God speaking to us? He speaks in many different ways. Mainly it is through the Bible, His living Word. But there are other ways too. It may be through circumstances, such as sickness, and other kinds of trials or road blocks in our Christian pathway; it may even be through a dream or vision. He can use other people, as well as many other modes of conveying messages to us. The great question is, are we listening? Let’s be like Samuel, who said, “Speak; for thy servant heareth” (1 Samuel 3:10).
God also wants to hear us speak to Him. Prayer is a wonderful resource given to us for the path of faith. David, in one of his prayers said, “I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt hear me” (Psalm 17:6). The prophet Micah said “My God will hear me” (Micah 7:7). What great confidence this give us.
God speaks … we listen … we speak … God listens!
