A Traveler’s Guide A young traveling man, who was a Christian, was packing his suitcase in the presence of a friend. “I’ve still a little corner left,” he remarked. “I’m saving it for five more items… A guidebook, ‘Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel’ (Psalm 73:24). A lamp, ‘Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet’ (Psalm 119:105). A mirror, ‘For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass’ (James 1:23). Some letters, ‘And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.’ (Hebrews 13:22). A sword, ‘The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God’ (Ephesians 6:17).” “Ridiculous!” his friend exclaimed. “You can’t possibly get all those things in that small space.” “Yes I can,” the traveler replied. Then he placed his Bible in the empty space. What value do you place on the Word of God?
