Dear Young Christian:

The writer of Psalm 119 knew the value of prayer and how vital it was to him if he was going to know the mind of God. He prayed: “Open Thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law” (Psalm 119:18).

Apart from a divine opening of our spiritual eyes we must remain in spiritual darkness. In the New Testament, we have the occasion with the two who were travelling from Jerusalem to Emmaus, after the Lord had risen from the dead. Here is a summary of how the Lord worked with them: “And their eyes were opened, and they knew HimHe openedthe Scriptures. Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures” (Luke 24:31-32, 45).

Today and this coming week, the Lord is waiting by His Spirit to open up to you the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. However, He can only do this if we have a sincere, reverent, humble attitude of prayerful dependence.

Your Christian Friend,

Jim Hyland

We would love to hear from you.
