Worry

The Christian life consists of living for Christ today and not fretting or worrying about tomorrow.

Here is a quote I saw recently on a poster:

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its troubles,

It empties today of its strength and joy.

It made me think of the words of the Lord Jesus, when He said, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” (Matthew 6:34). In other words, live in the joy of the Lord and the strength of His provisions for today, and leave tomorrow in His hand.

There may indeed be troubles and trials tomorrow, but why worry about something you think may happen. The very thing you worry about today may not happen tomorrow, and if it does, the Lord is sufficient and no less in power and love than He has been in the past or at the present.

Remember too, tomorrow may never come. “For the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (James 5:8). By tomorrow we may be safe in the Father’s house beyond the troubles and difficulties of life.
