Falling & Rising
“A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again” (Proverbs 24:16).
It has often been stated that, while there is no excuse for sin in a believer’s life, there is always provision for it. “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).
The just man who falls seven times rises up again. He may fall into sin, but he hates the sin, and rising up, he is characterized by confession and repentance. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). When King David sinned, he got into the presence of the Lord and confessed his sin in true repentance. Read that prayer of confession in Psalm 51:3. Here is part of what he said: “For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Thy sight…Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:3-4,10).

No one-a-day vitamin will do as much for us as this seven-a-day tonic.”
