129. Awake Each Soul! Awake Each Tongue

Awake each soul! awake each tongue!
 
The subject is divine;
 
The Savior’s love demands our song;
 
Let all His people join.

This Savior is the mighty God,
 
The God of heaven above;
 
Revealed in flesh, He shed His blood,
 
Blest proof of endless love.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
“For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matthew 26:28)

Jesus, Thy love exceeds our thought;
 
But this at least we see,
 
The soul that knows Thy love is taught
 
To value naught but Thee.
“And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” (Ephesians 3:19)
“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.” (Philippians 3:7-8)

And though Thy love be faintly seen,
 
What’s seen demands our praise;
 
Without it, Lord, we still had been
 
Ensnared in Satan’s ways.
