 9And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
 10And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
 11And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz. (2 Kings 20:4‑11)

 22Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord? (Isa. 38:4‑8,21‑22)
• In verse 24 we find the second trial. The accounts of 2 Kings 20:1-11 and Isaiah 38:1-22 are quite different. Our account here consists of but few words. (“Hezekiah's Three Trials: 2 Chronicles 32” by H.L. Rossier)
• What is even more poignant is that he, God's instrument for the salvation of the people, is about to be brusquely cut off at the very moment when Judah needs him more than ever.
