A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.1 – Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.2 – A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.3 – By thy words thou shalt be justified.4 – The tongue of the wise is health.5
They that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.6
If thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth.7 – Therefore, as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, … see that ye abound in this grace also.8

God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.1
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.2 – He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?3 – The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.4
We love him, because he first loved us.5
Blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.6

As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you.1 – They brought young children to him, that he should touch them. … And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.2 – Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.3 – An high priest … touched with the feeling of our infirmities.4 – In his love and in his pity he redeemed them.5
I will not leave you comfortless [margin: orphans]: I will come to you.6 – Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.7
The Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.8

If ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.1
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.2 – Thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.3 – Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.4
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me.5
He that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations.6 – To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.7

We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.1 – Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.2 – At that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, … but now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.3
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, … having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.4
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.5
If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.6

Be ye … followers of God, as dear children.1 – Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.2 – Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.3
The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.4
After that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.5 – The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.6 – He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?7

My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.1 – Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.2 – He maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.3 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.4 – I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.5
He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.6 – He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.7

This is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life.1 – Whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.2
My yoke is easy, and my burden is light.3 – If ye love me, keep my commandments.4 – He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.5
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. … Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.6 – Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.7 – I delight in the law of God after the inward man.8
This is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another.9 – Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.10

If, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.1 – This man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.2
Because I live, ye shall live also.3 – If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.4
The Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.5 – We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.6 – Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.7

Who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap.1
I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. … These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. … They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.2
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.3 – Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.4
