Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.1 – Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.2 – I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.3 – Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.4
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.5 – We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins.6 – Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.7

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.1 – Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.2
Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.3 – And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.4 – Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.5 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.6 – This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.7 – Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.8

Ye have not, because ye ask not.1
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.2 – This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.3 – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.4 – Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.5 – Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.6
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. … The Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.7 – Ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me. … Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.8

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.1 – The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.2 – It is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me. … By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.3
Abel, … brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. … The Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering.4 – Christ … hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.5
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.6 – Having … boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.7

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.1
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.2 – Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.3 – I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.4
O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.5

I am the Lord your God, which have separated you from other people. … And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.1
Sanctified by God the Father.2 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.3 – The very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.4
Jesus … that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.5 – Our Savior Jesus Christ … gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.6 – Both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren.7 – For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.8 – Through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.9

Jesus … said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.1 – He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.2
This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.3 – To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.4 – That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.5
After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.6 – Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.7

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.1 – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.2 – The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.3 – God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. … That no flesh should glory in his presence.4
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.5 – Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.6
All bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.7 – Never man spake like this man.8 – Of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.9

There be many that say, Who will show us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.1 – I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.2
In my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. … Thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. I cried to thee, O Lord: and unto the Lord I made supplication. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.3
For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.4 – Sorrow shall be turned into joy.5 – Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.6

And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: where they crucified him.1 – The bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.2 – The fellowship of his sufferings.3
Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.4 – Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.5
