Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil.1
Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.2
What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?3 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. … The world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.4
In time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.5 – Ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard him, … as the truth is in Jesus.6

A new heart … will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.1 – Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.2
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.3
I … beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, … endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.4

Thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich. … As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.1
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.2 – When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.3 – I am the Lord thy God, … open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.4
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.5 – I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.6

The Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.1 – That which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.2 – The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.3 – Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.4
What is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?5 – What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.6
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts.7 – Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing.8

The hope which is laid up for you in heaven.1 – If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.2 – We must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.3 – Whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.4 – No man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.5
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.6 – The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.7 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.8 – Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.9 – By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.10

Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high, who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!1 – Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.2 – I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. … Hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy loving-kindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.3
Because thy loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.4 – Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.5
Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do.6

He is the head of the body, the church.1 – The head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.2 – We are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.3
A body hast thou prepared me.4 – Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.5
Thine they were, and thou gavest them me.6 – He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.7 – Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.8
Grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, … maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.9

Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted.1 – Be still, and know that I am God.2 – Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?3 – The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.4
Mary … sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. … Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.5 – In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.6 – Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.8
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established.9
He that believeth shall not make haste.10

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil.1 – Abhor that which is evil.2 – Abstain from all appearance of evil.3 – Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.4
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.5
Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.6 – Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.7
Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.8 – Such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners.9 – In him is no sin.10

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? … He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength1 – Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.2 – Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.3
The trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.4 – Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.5
