A Battalion Postman

“Sir, — Being battalion postman, I came in contact with one of your valuable Testaments, owing to it being addressed to a fellow that had the misfortune of being killed in action, and being a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ I thought I was as much entitled to it as anyone else, and being in a shelling area we have to pass our nights, away in a small cellar of a dilapidated village somewhere in France, and my fellow comrades were so impressed with the New Testaments that they asked me if I would kindly ask you for some. Would be very pleased if you could forward me a few tracts and oblige, — Sergt.
E. E. P―, Postman.

M., Mechanician, “H.M.S.―,” writes: — “As you probably have heard long since, my old ship, the ‘Nottingham,’ is no more, and as I had such a real deliverance in that case I am looking’ forward to opportunities of serving my Saviour in the next ship. Of course, all my books, such as Testaments, etc., have gone with the ship, and I shall be thankful if you could send me a parcel to H.M.S. ―. in a few days’ time. I am very thankful for all you did for us in the Nottingham,’ and will (D.V.) always do what I can to put to the best use all you send me. Thanking you for all past kindnesses, and wishing you a rich harvest for your labors in the Lord.” — J.M.N.
