259. Ah, Yes, Lord Jesus (Thou Whose Heart

C.M.
by S.P. Tregelles
1
Ah, yes, Lord Jesus (Thou whose heart

Still for Thy saints doth care),

We shall behold Thee as Thou art,

And Thy full image bear.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:2)
“And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” (1 Corinthians 15:49)
2
Thy love sustains us by the way,

While pilgrims here below;

Thou dost, O Savior, day by day,

Thy suited grace bestow.
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” (1 Peter 2:11)
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
3
But oh! the more we learn of Thee,

And Thy rich mercy prove,

The more we long Thy face to see,

And fully prove Thy love.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us.” (Ephesians 2:4)
“And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.” (Revelation 22:4)
4
Then, shine, Thou Bright and Morning Star,

Dispel the dreary gloom;

Oh take, from sin and grief afar,

Thy blood-bought people home!
“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” (Revelation 22:16)
“For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:17)
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)
